This Father’s Day, Lakeview Manor proudly honors the incredible men who have helped shape families, communities, and the world around them. Our residents who are fathers carry with them a lifetime of wisdom, love, sacrifice, and strength—qualities that define what it truly means to be a dad.

Fathers are the quiet champions of everyday life. They are protectors, teachers, providers, and often the steady hands that guide generations. Whether raising children through challenging times, serving their country, building careers, or nurturing the bonds of family, the fathers at Lakeview Manor have lived lives of purpose and resilience.

The Role of Fathers and The Legacy They Leave Behind

As we gather to celebrate them, we recognize not only the role they played as fathers, but the powerful legacy they continue to leave behind. Their stories, lessons, and laughter still resonate, reminding us of the deep importance of fatherhood in society. These men have shaped the world in ways both big and small—through patience, hard work, and unconditional love.

Today, we pause to reflect and give thanks for all they’ve done. We honor their decades of devotion, their hard-earned wisdom, and the strong example they’ve set for future generations.

To the fathers of Lakeview Manor: you are valued, you are loved, and your contributions continue to inspire. Thank you for everything you’ve given—not just to your families, but to all of us who have the privilege of knowing you. Happy Father’s Day!

National Nursing Home Week continued with a pop of color and a crunch of flavor during our latest themed celebration: Neon and Nachos. The day was all about brightness—bright clothes, bright smiles, and bright spirits—as residents and staff came together to share good food and good company.

From the start of the day, there was a buzz throughout the building. Staff showed up dressed in glowing neon shirts, headbands, socks, and even tutus—transforming the halls into a glowing, high-energy party. It was impossible not to smile at the sight of so many vibrant colors walking around, and residents were clearly enjoying the spectacle.

“Y’all are glowing today!” one resident joked, clapping her hands with delight as a caregiver in a lime green outfit passed by.

But the centerpiece of the day was, without a doubt, the nacho bar. Set up in the dining area, the spread included warm tortilla chips, melted cheese, seasoned ground beef, jalapeños, sour cream, black beans, and more. Residents had the option to build their nachos just the way they liked them—with staff right there to help every step of the way. Whether someone wanted a little spice or all the toppings, each plate was made with care.

It’s Always A Team Effort!

The kitchen and dietary teams worked hard behind the scenes, preparing everything fresh and arranging it beautifully. They teamed up with caregivers and activity staff to ensure that every resident got what they needed—whether that meant help building a plate, assistance with seating, or just someone to chat with during lunch.

What stood out most wasn’t just the food or the outfits—it was the teamwork. Staff moved seamlessly together, making sure each resident felt included and comfortable. They anticipated needs, offered a helping hand, and made it a point to create moments of connection. These weren’t just tasks—they were acts of kindness and presence.

“Bringing joy to our residents is what we’re here for,” one nurse said while helping a resident with their plate. “Days like this give us all a chance to laugh, relax, and enjoy each other outside of the routine.”

Residents appreciated the change of pace and the attention to detail. The bright atmosphere helped lift moods and brought a sense of fun to the afternoon. For some, it sparked memories of family get-togethers; for others, it was simply a treat to have something new to look forward to.

The goal of National Nursing Home Week is to celebrate the people who live and work in these communities, and Neon and Nachos did just that. It was a reminder that joy doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, all it takes is a plate of nachos, some glowing colors, and people who care.

As the music played and laughter lingered, it was clear: our staff aren’t just caregivers—they’re the heartbeat of this community. And days like today show just how far a little creativity and teamwork can go in bringing happiness to those we serve.

The spirit of Louisiana came alive today at Lakeview Manor as we celebrated National Nursing Home Week with one of our most anticipated events—Game Day, featuring a classic Southern favorite: a big, bold crawfish boil.

Decked out in jerseys from their favorite teams, staff transformed the courtyard into a vibrant game day tailgate scene. Tables were lined with tablecloths and buckets ready to catch the shells of freshly boiled crawfish. Team banners gave everything a festive flair, and upbeat Zydeco music added the perfect soundtrack to a sunny Louisiana afternoon.

Residents joined the fun, ready to cheer on their favorite teams and enjoy some seriously good eats. There were smiles all around as trays piled high with steaming crawfish, corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage made their way to the tables. For many, the rich spices and familiar flavors stirred fond memories of backyard boils and family gatherings.

“This tastes just like home,” one resident said, grinning as she cracked into a crawfish. “It takes me back to when we’d have big boils every spring.”

But the food wasn’t the only thing that made the day special—it was the people. The teamwork on display from the staff was inspiring. From early morning prep to serving every resident with care and attention, the entire team worked together like a well-coached squad. Caregivers and activity aides made sure residents were comfortable, had everything they needed, and were fully part of the celebration. Even the administrative staff rolled up their sleeves, peeling crawfish, refilling drinks, and chatting with residents to keep the mood light and joyful.

“Events like these don’t happen without everyone stepping up,” said one staff member. “It’s not just about food—it’s about making our residents feel celebrated and cared for.”

It Was A Team Effort!

Throughout the day, there were yard games, friendly competitions, and even a little dancing when a favorite song came on. Residents played ring toss, tossed soft footballs through hoops, and cheered each other on in trivia games. Whether they were playing or simply enjoying the atmosphere, everyone was engaged, energized, and happy.

These moments do more than fill a calendar—they lift spirits, improve emotional health, and give our residents something to look forward to. Laughter, shared meals, and community are essential to quality of life, and today delivered all of that and more.

As the crawfish boil wound down, residents lingered, still chatting, smiling, and savoring the last bites. Game Day was more than a theme—it was a reminder of the joy that can come from simple pleasures, thoughtful planning, and a team committed to making every day meaningful.

We’re proud to celebrate our residents this National Nursing Home Week, and proud of the staff who go all out to make it memorable.

While freezing weather is bearing down on Lakeview Manor, we are working through the ice and snow! As an ancient scholar once noted, “Teamwork makes the Dream work!”, and that is certainly true of our nursing and support staff!

The temperature at the moment (January 21, 2025 at 11:00am) is 28F (feels like 13F!!!!), but it’s supposed to get MUCH colder overnight, bottoming out about 14F around 6am (and will feel like about 8F!!!). We have dedicated staff sleeping in the building during their off time, then waking up fresh and ready to go for their shifts. Our residents are warm and dry and we’re taking every precaution to ensure they’re safe and secure!

We certainly aren’t used to this kind of weather in south Louisiana, so we’re gearing up for a very cold night with plenty of staff, plenty of blankets, and plenty of food for our staff and residents. Stay warm and stay off the roads if you can – we got this!
